THE JACKDRAG/BLAKE HAZARD DYNAMIC DUO

DUTCH TOUR NOTES 4/1-6/2002

the early april dates in the benelux were fantastic. these were duo performances with blake operating samples and singing with jackdrag and then myself simply switching roles for the blake hazard shows.

we arrived in brussels on the morning of the 2nd. after breakfast there were two acoustic radio sets with interviews and then we drove to amsterdam. that evening blake played on this late night dutch t.v. show to 600,000 viewers. they claim it's the dutch 'david letterman' but it seemed more like 'charlie rose'. still it was super neat.

the following evening was a live radio broadcast for VPRO-a hugely supportive and very diverse radio station in holland. billy childish also played a set with his new band, "the buff medways".

the next night had blake opening for evan dando. what a beautiful night. both blake and evan sounded wonderful. we also got to meet carol and peter from bettie serveert.

the last gig was a festival in rotterdam called "motel mozaique". the night had sets from evan, blake and jackdrag. totally kooky evening with old school rock and roll behavior. belle and sebastian we're there the next night which we wanted to see but instead we were driven to the brussels airport at 2am. we slept on floor for a couple hours and then had a horrific flight on a tiny plane to london where we had another 5 hours before catching our flight to boston.

all in all a whirlwind but never the less, truly enjoyable.
